This is a small list of projects I have thought about pursuing.

  • Creating a fire pit with water, mud, and a shovel.
  • Creating a Furnace to melt aluminium cans to create Ingots... (still researching this)
  • Working on my project truck that needs a lot of work.
  • I will be looking into melting lead down and creating bullets.
  • I am going to be researching into a few different projects.
  • I will be creating my own tools and handles for them for certain projects.
  • Doing a few bush craft trial and errors.
  • Creating cardboard and paper logs for burning in fire pit listed above.
    1. I have been researching this and will chronicle the way I have figured out how to do it.  I plan on creating everything from minor things.  I will list everything I do buy and everything I use.  Each one of the bricks will be weighted and checked for burn time.  I plan on doing a lot of R&D here.
  • Water catching system for either fire suppression or irrigation.
  • To Be Updated.

I would like to say if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know about a project you would like to see tried.  I will try it till I get it right or it refuses to work.  I am not completely primitive in what I will be doing.  I plan on using several modern tools.  Saws, Shovels, and Knives to list but a few.  I have plenty of tools in order to keep me busy along with plenty of work.

What are your ideas on doing a tutorial on basic car maintenance?  Things like changing your oil, checking and adding fluids, things to listen for when driving, changing a tire.... This would be for the younger generation.

This is more of a poll.

If you would like pictures of my projects where I work on my vehicles let me know.  I am currently in the process of replacing my ball joints on my truck.  If you have any comments please let me know.  I am unsure of how to create an actual poll, so just comment if you wish to see my ugly self working on my vehicles.  Also please feel free to suggest projects if you want to.  I will see what I can do.

My Gear

So I have some gear.  I will add pictures as I can.

Major Tools:

  • "Full" set of mechanics tools (constantly gaining new tools there as that is my trade)
  • Rake
  • Pitchfork (in need of a new handle)
  • Several Shovels
  • One Wal-mart special knife.
  • Plenty of books full of information
  • My truck is a tool in the fact that I use it to haul things
  • Axe
  • Several saws
  • Clippers
  • Hoe (need to replace as it had a fiberglass handle which was run over)

Updates on me and this blog.

Ok I know it has been a few months, I am currently trying to get some projects going forward so that I can document them.  I am in the process of planning one big project.  On top of that work and school have been consuming my life for  the most part.  I have several medium sized projects for other activities that I have going on as well.  I hope to have this larger project moving forward soon.  I do plan on it being a multiparter.  With possible video... I am not 100% sure.  So here is to being independent from the world and technology.

Books. Books.... BOOKS....

Ok so the thing that got me really started wanting to do these things was.... Yeah you guessed it.  Books.

The foxfire books that I currently have, and several gardening books.  As well as several youtube channels.  You will likely see me use quite a few ideas that have been shared by the posters.  I plan on releasing a list of books that I have at a date very soon.  Most of my books are books I personally enjoy.  The ones I read in whatever down time I have (which is not much) are general fantasy or sci-fi.   Currently working on the Inheritance Cycle again.  The Inheritance Cycle for those who have not heard of it include: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, and Inheritance.  My favorite chapter is in Brisingr when Eragon's sword Brisingr was created. But outside of that I am constantly trying to read books on projects I am working on, or watching youtube videos or hanging out with my family.

When I have a spare moment I will post my list of books that I am currently using as reference guides.  And the ones I plan to pick up soon.  If you have any suggestions feel free to drop an email at preppingismine@gmail.com

Thanks guys.

My views and thoughts.

So to me independence is mine though only hard work.  By this I mean working hard and creating a garden, using my own compost, and getting as much as I can through trade.

So I am going to start by chronicling the compost pit, (pics to come), the garden, some of the projects to make things a bit easier.  I will also be exploring some bushcraft.  I will also be working on a few ideas.   This is all around an already full schedule.  Schooling (for a better job), a full time job, and dealing with the animals and kids and a few other side projects.  The job is what pays the bills for me to have internet right now.  And lights and a house.  My goal is to get away from the grid as much as possible.  I may have 5 or 10 post back logged to post on a schedule cause I will likely pick one day a week to build them all and then have them post at certain times.  I believe that working hard is a good thing.  I also do not like sitting around for very long.  I am a young father.  (not super young but only about 30)  I am planning on letting everyone in on what it is that I do with out revealing my physical locations for said actions.  Here is to a hopeful good time and at least some fun for me.
